March 2014 Update

Hi to all,

Sorry we haven’t updated you all with our goings on for the last wee bit, we have been busy getting all our summer pruning done and going to festivals, shows and fetes.  Last weekend we had a good day at the Mayfield A& P Show and this weekend we were kept busy at the Methven A & P show then the Tekapo fete.  It was lovely to meet some new faces as well as our regular clientele.

The verasion has happened on the fruit and we now got all the vines covered with the nets to stop the birds from getting this year’s crop.  We had a bit of a freak wind move some of the nets over which meant we had to take them off and re-cover them.  There is still a bit of mending to be done.  Luckily we did have the nets on and secure before the 1 in 100 year storm hit so that was a blessing.  Now we are hoping for some nice hot days with cool evenings to get the fruit ripe enough for us to pick.

We hope to see you all soon at our cellar door.

Shows and Festival Time

We at CharRees have been busy showing our wines at the Ashburton and Christchurch A & P Shows, Geraldine Arts & Plants as well as at our local Ashburton Farmer’s Market.

This weekend we are going to be at the Timaru Rose festival, fingers crossed the weather turns out to be a nice weekend.  Though the rain that we have received this week has been good for the vines.

The vines are growing nicely, we will post some photos soon to show you the growth in the vineyard.

Here is some photos of us at the different shows.

If you come to the Timaru Rose Festival this week or the Christchurch, South Island Wine Festival next week, come and say Hi to us, we always like seeing familiar face.
